Understanding Fly Fishing Basics
By: Erwan Go
When you cast
the line and wait for a bite then reel in, people will called that the basic of fishing. The basic of fishing as we mentioned for experienced fishermen is more than that but for most of us the description is enough just to understand.
There are so many
types of fishing like freshwater fishing and
saltwater fishing but the most artful among them was fly fishing.
I believe you have heard about it. It has been in history record almost two thousand years and you maybe know that it don’t involve fishing for flies but if you know all about this premier
fly fishing basics then it could bring you up to speed.
Typically fly fishing not using any kind of live, dead or organic bait unlike any other types of fishing. Artificial flies like ribbon, hair, string, feathers used by fly fisherman as a
lure to attract fish. You have to attaches
the artificial flies to the hook and line, and with the movement made by the fisherman makes the fly look like an insect that is moving on or above the surface of water will attract the fish.
The first and the most important element to understand the nature of those artificial flies is when examining fly fishing basic. The way the line is cast is another aspect of fly fishing basic that make different the fly fishing from other variation of fishing.
Fly fishing required a much more skillful method of luring the fish while other variations of fishing depend on casting a line and attracting the fish with the bait.
When casting
the lure toward the fish, a fly fisherman will use rhythmic movement to make the lure fly above the water, diving under the surface or even skimming the top, all of that is an effort to replicated the movement of an insect that might entice a starve fish to strike. With this fly fishing basic understanding, perhaps you might need to give it a try.
Rods those are lighter and longer than typical
fishing rods usually use by fly fisherman. Using quite
simple reel is generally used because this reel used only to retrieve the lure and hook and a fish hopefully! Fly fisherman commonly create slack in the line before casting by pulling some from the reel. With the slack that we created will allows the lure to fly freely to the targeted area.
Before setting off to cast your line, you should understand when choosing the proper lure because it is another aspect of
fly fishing basics. The characteristic of flies must be the same with the lure that you intended to use.
In recent years the
fly fishing sport was evolved and now many fishermen choose lures and casting techniques that mimic prey of the fish that they are attempting to catch.
But the eating characteristics and specific baits of fish are beyond the realm of
fly fishing basics.
To understanding the basics of fly fishing is not enough only by preparing one to head off the nearest streams or lakes. You have to try fly fishing yourself or if possible seek the tutelage of an experienced fly fisherman and spend some time reading on the subject with that you will expand your knowledge and then you will begin to understand more than fly fishing basics like specific recommendations on
rod, reel, lure, line weight and most important is where fly fisherman must make a pilgrimage.
